This is what Gregg Herbold, our first downhill world champion and regular visitor to Moab bike trails, has to say about the Slick Rock Trail:
"It's not only one of the most beautiful and unique places in the world, but you can ride your bike on it, which is so cool ... One of the unique factors about the Slick Rock Trail is it hasn't changed at all since it became a trail."
Herbold started riding Moab bike trails on rigid forks more than 20 years ago, when the sport was born.
Slick Rock Trail is a special place to spend some time. You'll leave town and never forget your day there.
Herbold says that "It's all about the adventure, the experience, it's an experience of a lifetime."
Gregg Herbold's Slick Rock Advice:
- Take your time, enjoy the views.
- Choose your battles.
- Don't hesitate to veer. Riding the Moab slick rock bike trails is a lot like skiing: The passing is easy to do and you can veer off and choose your own lines to ride.
- Safety first. Stick to the dots ... they will take you to the Budweiser.
Herbold's final words about Moab's famous Slick Rock trail:
"I've met tired people, bloody, etc., but I've never met an unhappy person."
