70 & Counting

Pat and i just had a long time friend from Steamboat visit us.  He has a book called "Younger Next Year".  The subtitle is something like, "How to stay active and healthy into your 80's and beyond".  No surprise, but the book is about staying fit and eating a healthy diet.  I'm encouraged because I'm doing the fit part and it would not require too much effort to make some course corrections on my diet... uh, the beer is a tough one!

I've guided a few people in their seventies and snowboarded with a friend in Steamboat... at his age of 92!  (FYI his name was "Banana George"...my hero.)  You probably get my drift... I don't want to give up this wonderful life style and will do all I can to make it last.  Getting out on the bike and staying fit is the easy part... anything that is this much fun and makes me happy... "Rock n' roll, Merica!"

Encouraging all to get out and stay young!

Your pal, Al

Moab's the best it's ever been.  Why?  HELLO TRAILS!  So many new ones I can hardly keep track.  Off the top of my head,  I can think of 9 new (world-class) trails that've been created within the last year.  So, here's a warm cheers to Moab's best Christmas yet! Thank you trail builders, thank you all, what an amazing gift.

Hoping all of you find the time to get plenty of fresh air this holiday season.  Sending warm wishes to you!  Thanks for checking in!

Thanks for getting us outta the office!

E-mail Print PDF

It's been an unforgettable season! A quick shout out to all of our new friends that we've had the opportunity to know this year.  Thank you for welcoming us into your life and thank you for GETTING US THE HECK OUTTA THE OFFICE!  There's no doubt we had as much fun as you did.

Right now we are busy prepping for next year and selling our current fleet of bikes, and, of course, getting out to ride as much as we can.  We are excited to update all of 2011 Specailized Stumpjumper's to new 2012 models.  If you know of anyone looking for a (hardly) used bike, feel free to have them contact us at any time! They are going quickly.

Pat and Allan are looking forward to spending Thanksgiving with their son, Mark, in Bozeman, Montana.  This winter, this amazing coulple (only 70 years old!! and still shredding) can't wait to rip up the slopes of Utah on ski's and snowboards.  A true inspiration!  Both of them will be available to sneak back to Moab for any winter tours.

Joe has been a huge part of guiding for Solfun this fall and climbing his little heart out while hanging out with his 5 year old son, Joseph, in his free time.  He's gearing up for Las Vegas where he'll spend the winter running an outdoor zipline!  If you end up in LV this winter - this is something you should not miss!

Dave Loner is our newest member to the Solfun party and he's the life of the party to say the least.  An incredible rider who's skills will blow you away and he is a wonderful (and entertaining!!) teacher out there on the trail.  It's been a breath of fresh air having him on board.

Things in my life have been exciting with not so much bike racing this fall, lots of guiding, visitors to entertain, and training hard for the Moab Trail Marathon.  Heading down to Sedona, AZ for the winter to "base train" for my 2012 bike race season.  If any of you find yourselves down there, I would love to see you!

Post Moab Marathon, November 5th 2011, 2nd place female and 8th overall out of 190 runners... An unforgettable day!
