FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How much experience do I need?

The skill level of our tours range from novice to advanced. Let us know how you rate your Skill/Fitness Level and make sure that you are not choosing a tour that is too difficult for you. You’re on vacation, not a marathon! We typically ride 4 to 6 hours a day.

What if I have to cancel?

Cancellations prior to 60 days of the tour will be refunded all money received less a $50 handling fee per person. Cancellations between 60 and 30 days prior to the tour will forfeit their deposit. Cancellations less than 30 days before the tour will forfeit the full price of the tour. We recommend you purchase trip insurance through an independent agency.

Do you rent bikes?

Bikes are included in your tour price.  Tell us your height, weight and let us know if you plan to bring your own clipless pedals, seat or helmet. We have new full suspension, disk brake bikes to fit all riders.

How is the food on my tour?

We eat well! Our meals are hearty and delicious. We can accommodate special diets including vegetarian and low-fat diets. Be sure you let us know if you have a special diet request when you make your reservation. Bring your own liquor and we’ll supply cooler power.

What do I need to carry while riding?

See the "What to Bring" section below.

What will the weather be like?

We try to schedule our tours during the best weather where we ride. However, weather is never predictable. No matter what month a tour is scheduled, you need to come prepared for a variety of weather situations. Since our van carries all the gear, you have plenty of room to bring what you need.

Is there any hiking?

You bet! The areas we mountain bike offer great side hikes along the trail to view dinosaur tracks and/or Indian petroglyphs. We’ll include lots of information on your tour about local modern and geological history, flora and fauna.

What about tipping?

Tipping certainly is not required, but it is customary to express your thanks for a job well done and it is gratefully appreciated by your guides.

WHAT TO BRING

You’ll be equipped with a bike, bike helmet and a water bottle as well as an extra inner tube. Your guide can help with repairs if they come up in this desert terrain. We carry a first aid kit and extra tools. We’ll have snacks available for half day tours and lunch for full day tours as we’ll eat on the trail.

You’ll need to bring:

1. A day pack roomy enough to carry your gear and extra water.

2. Bring with you 50 oz of water for a half day tour, 100 oz. for a full day tour and more during the summer (50%). Ideally, you should have 100 oz. Camelbak type bladders, but water bottles to carry these amounts will fit into your pack. Water is critical. We can loan you a daypack if you don’t have your own.

3. Sunscreen.

4. A polypropylene vest or jacket and rain jacket.  It can rain on any day and it pays to be prepared to ensure a comfortable experience.  Dress warmer in early spring (March) or late fall (late Oct-Nov.)

5. Wear bike gloves, pants, shoes and shirt if you have them. If you don’t have bike clothes, wear shorts, a shirt and running shoes. If you have your own pedals and bike shoes, bring them and we’ll install the pedals for you.

6. If the weather for the day looks like it might get chilly, as it can in the early spring and late fall, bring a pair of long pants and an extra jacket or shirt.

7. Bring your camera to catch the action in this beautiful terrain!
